How to choose a speech therapist
Anyone can call themselves a therapist. Registration is the one thing you can check independently.
Ask for the MAHPC registration
Malaysian law requires speech-language therapists to register with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council and to hold a practising certificate. Ask for the number.
Ask what the first session produces
You should receive a clear statement of where your child is, and what the goal is.
Ask who does the work between sessions
If the answer does not involve you, ask why.
Ask what it costs in total
Session fee, assessment fee, report fee and travel fee. Get all four.
