Does growing up with two languages cause a delay?
Most Malaysian children grow up with more than one language. Families often worry that this caused the delay. Two languages do not cause a speech delay.
Count every language together
A child who has ten Malay words and ten English words has twenty words, not ten.
Do not drop a language
Dropping the home language usually costs the family more than it gains the child.
